Early Life and Education

Born: March 24, 1935, in Bath, Somerset, England.

Childhood challenge: At age 13, she contracted polio, which left her with a slight disability in her left hand. Despite this, she pursued her passion for cooking.

Education: Studied at Bath College of Domestic Science and later trained at the prestigious Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, gaining classical culinary skills.

Career Beginnings

In the 1960s, Berry became the cookery editor of Housewife magazine, later moving to Ideal Home.

Her first major cookbook, The Hamlyn All Colour Cookbook (1970), marked the beginning of a prolific publishing career.
